SEN 1-1 Buddy Role
St Werburgh’s, Bristol, BS2 9US
Term time, 3 days a week (3pm-6pm)
Holiday camps, up to 40 hours Monday - Friday (8:30am-5:30pm)
Up to £15p/hr
A little bit about what you’ll be doing…
- Prepare for supporting the child in advance – review their profiles and assessments, tailoring the programme to ensure inclusivity and engagement.
- Be available to meet & greet the child at the start of every session they are attending and obtain information from parents on their current state of health and well-being and any updates.
- Maintain records of the child’s time in club, their experiences and how you are supporting them in the child’s daily diary and share summaries with the Child Experience team weekly. Share information with parents daily on handover from club on child’s achievements, experiences and any challenges.
- Be available to meet & greet the child at the start of every session they are attending and obtain information from parents/teacher on their current state of health and well-being and any updates.
- Host and lead parent / child meeting (call or face to face)– discussing expectations and level of support / strategies (referring to Setting Support Plan)
- Undertake individual and/or group risk assessments based on the child’s needs, with support and guidance from the Region Champion or wider Child Experience team colleague.
- Be confident in implementing and embedding effective strategies which are consistent for the individual child.

- Specialist knowledge and experience of working with children with SEND.
- You are aware of Ofsted requirements and can provide information in advance of or during inspection as required.
- You are always looking to learn and are proactive in your own personal professional development.
- You work well with others always wanting to ensure you leave them with the best impression.

- You are driven. You’re perceptive, you ask questions, and you strive to understand.

Desirable experience and qualifications
- Early Years Childcare & education – Level 3
- SEND & Inclusion in Early Years/Primary – Level 2
- Experience of working as a 1:1 with children with SEND
- Wraparound care experience
- Relevant PFA certification
